Week 9

On Week 9 of Term 2, Wednesday the 21th of March 2007. In Art class we continued doing our mini theater, in this lesson I finished painting my backdrop but I did not paint my theater yet, so I did it in this lesson. I painted the outside of the theater black, and the inside for the floor and the ceiling of the theater I painted goldish yellow. After I had painted the theater I then left it to dry, while I was waiting for it to dry I then did my wings and they were an egyptian pole and a statue, it was painted gold. That's what I did for this week.

The process of making a mini theater is:
1. You have to find one myth or a legend
2. Research about it
3. Bring in a box
4. Cover the box with tissue (paper mache)
5. Draw the backdrop
6. Paint the outside and the inside of the theater (no need to paint the bottom)
7. Make a wing for you stage
8. Make small chages to your theater
9. Decorate your stage
10. Then you have a mini theater!!!

I think that If I compare my work to my friends I think that my work looks good, and if I compare it to my other art work I think that this project might be the best project that I have done so far for art class. Also I think that the grade I should deserve is between 6 and 7 because I think that It looks good and that I took my time to do it. As now, I have not yet finish my theater which I think that the thing that was successful was I have my theater that is now nearly finish and that I only have to do my wings now.

In my backdrop I have a picture of 4 poles that looks like an egyptian style, which the backdrop is the picture of the inside of an egyptian palace. I drew 4 poles because when I researched for the inside of an egyptian palace I saw lots of poles and some tunnels. The picture of the inside of the egyptian palace is important to King Midas because he lives in a palace. Also I think that my stage communicates my understanding about a myth or legend really well because I think that my backgrounds communicates really well also I think that I chose the right colour for my stage, so I think that my theater communicates really well.

  • Good job with this reflection, Kik. I'm glad that you recognise that this is one of your best pieces of art so far. maybe you can be a set designer?!
What made you think of doing Midas?
